Novel Coronavirus (2019-nCoV)

The Wuhan coronavirus, also called the new coronavirus (2019-nCoV) is a virus that belongs to the coronavirus family. It is formed by a positive single stranded RNA. It can cause acute respiratory disease and severe pneumonia in humans. The Wuhan coronavirus sequence shows similarities with the beta-coronaviruses found in bats, but they are genetically distinct from other coronaviruses such as SARS Co-V and MERS-CoV but they have similarities that can cause Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome and even death. Today there are several reported sequences of this virus and our kits are designed to detect them all. The isolates reported are the following: 2019-nCoV/USA-CA1/2020; 2019-nCoV/USA-CA2/2020; 2019-nCoV/USA-CA1/2020; 2019-nCoV WHU02, 2019-nCoV WHU01; 2019-nCoV/USA-IL1/2020; 2019-nCoV/USA-WA1/2020; 2019-nCoV_HKU-SZ-005b_2020; 2019-nCoV_HKU-SZ-002a_2020 and Wuhan-Hu-1.
